With antineoplastic activity, Capecitabine is a fluoropyrimidine carbamate. It is an orally directed systemic prodrug of 5'-deoxy-5-fluorouridine (5'-DFUR) that is transformed to 5-fluorouracil. 5'-deoxy-5-fluoro-N-[(pentyloxy) carbonyl]-cytidine is the chemical name for capecitabine. It is a cancer medication that inhibits the development of cancer cells and reduces their spread in the body. It is used to treat colon or rectum cancer and breast cancer that has blowout to other portions of the body. It is often used in combination with other cancer medications and/or radiation treatments.

Additional Information :

• You should not take this medicine if you are sensitive to fluorouracil (Adrucil) or capecitabine, or if you have serious kidney illness or a metabolic illness known as DPD (dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase) shortage.
• Prior to you take capecitabine, inform your healthcare practitioner if you have kidney or liver disease, a past of coronary artery disease, or if you are consuming folic acid (comprised in numerous vitamin and mineral supplements), phenytoin (Dilantin), leucovorin (Wellcovorin), or a blood thinner (Coumadin, warfarin).
